This Pineapple Blueberry Fluff Salad recipe only takes a few minutes of work, and is guarantee to be a crowd pleaser. Naturally gluten-free!
As a dessert salad, it’s great. Not something I really grew up with, beyond the odd Watergate salad or Ambrosia salad you’d see at baby showers, holiday dinners, family gatherings, etc, mind you... but a fun, easy dessert.
Then I met my husband, who comes from a place where these kind of fluffy salads are considered a side dish.
Now, fluff recipes generally involve things like fresh fruits - berries, sweet pineapple chunks, maraschino cherries, etc - along with fun mini marshmallows, instant pudding (or Jello mix), and whipped topping.
I’m sorry, but at BEST you can call that a fruit salad... which is neither an actual salad, nor a side dish.
Anyway, my pedantic ranting aside... this kind of simple dessert usually ends up being a crowd favorite, regardless of which side of the border you serve it on, or what you call it!
This creamy salad is a SUPER easy, no bake dessert recipe. It’s a great recipe to have on hand when you need to bring a delicious dessert to a backyard BBQ or potluck.
If you put it in a fancy dish and spend a minute or two garnishing it, though, you can definitely get away with serving it at any holiday table - even with Christmas dinner.
It’s a great addition to our small - but growing - collection of easy fluff salad recipes: Cherry Cheesecake Fluff, Banana Split Fluff Salad, and Pina Colada Fluff Salad.
Anyway, let’s take a look at what you’ll need to throw on a batch of this easy dessert salad, yourself!
Ingredients
This recipe uses super simple ingredients. You shouldn’t have any trouble finding what you need in any grocery store.
A few notes for you:
Crushed Pineapple
I’ve only ever made this with crushed pineapple, but I suppose pineapple chunks or pineapple tidbits would also work.
I’d probably run them through a mini food processor - juice and all - a few times, just to break it up a bit.
The “juice and all” is important here - whatever pineapple you’re using, don’t drain it!
Mini Marshmallows
Consider the measurement of miniature marshmallows a guideline, moreso than a hard and fast rule.
Sometimes you may want more marshmallows, sometimes less. Just eyeball it, and measure with your heart!
Also: If your marshmallows are a little stale, that’s ok - they absorb a lot of liquid, especially from the pineapples.
Cool Whip
The sizing varies a little between countries. If you’re in the USA, use an 8 oz tub. If you’re in Canada, use the 1 Litre container.
Everything Else
Rounding out this recipe, you will need:
Blueberry Pie Filling
Fresh Blueberries
Sliced Almonds
Instant Vanilla Pudding mix
Salt
... I just don’t have anything to add, as far as these last few ingredients go. Pretty straightforward stuff!
